Travel at Leisure
Your Australia vacation is special to you and to us. Changing locations each night on holiday is not the ideal way to experience the real Australia. We prefer to arrange your itinerary so that you stay at least a couple of nights at each accommodation. This will allow you to tour at leisure and explore your chosen region more thoroughly. You can indulge in the incredible landscapes of Grampians National Park or the rainforests of Victoria through full day excursions if you like. It is your holiday, let us tailor it to your interests.
Less can be More
We recommend allowing at least 10 days for holidays in Australia that focus on a particular region. Two to three weeks are advisable for more extensive tours. This will enable you to travel at a leisurely pace and save you from spending most of your vacation inside your car. In our experience less time on the road is more enjoyable.
Peace of Mind
During high season many of the small, family-run B&Bs in Australia are fully booked several weeks in advance. Arranging an itinerary with us prior to departure will give you the peace of mind of knowing your destination each day and where you will be spending the night. This will help you avoid stress while touring Australia and give you more time to concentrate on planning your daily activities and enjoying your vacation.

We can alter the routes, the number of persons travelling, the time schedule, the standard of accommodation or the type of vehicle. The tour may commence on any date from any location such as Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane or Sydney.

Who we are
We are a private limited company (Ltd.) based near Cologne, Germany, with branch offices in New Zealand and South Africa. We started out as a localised tour operator for South Africa in 1998 but soon extended our programme to Australia and other countries, encouraged by the positive feedback from our clients. "Umfulana" means "stream" or "little river" in Zulu and is the literal translation of the German surname of one of the company's directors, Martin Bach, who began designing and selling tailor-made, self-drive itineraries while living in South Africa.
