Victorian Villa with a History
Victorian Villa with a History

Boutique Villa in Richmond
This boutique bed & breakfast is an historic, Italianate villa restored to capture the essence of the European pension. The house has a colourful history. Built in 1885 as the private residence of the distinguished architect John Bernard Augustus Koch, in 1896 the property was purchased by the Church of England for use as an orphans' home. It later became the home of the Anglican Archbishop, Field Flowers-goe, the Moulin Rouge massage parlour, and more recently a doctor's surgery. Located in cosmopolitan inner-city Richmond, minutes from the Melbourne CBD, the boutique B&B offers individually styled bedrooms with en-suites and modern facilities. Features include fine bed linen, antiques and contemporary furnishings and original art works and artefacts. Accommodation includes a gourmet breakfast.

Retreat overlooking Apollo Bay
This retreat is located "high above the world" overlooking Apollo Bay and the Great Ocean Road. It is the highest point in the area, an old aboriginal sacred site, with stunning ocean views. It offers a holiday experience with a difference that is focused on relaxation, self-discovery and personal growth. We support this process in an environment of peaceful solitude, healing nature and comfortable accommodation. Its guesthouse, two cottages and meeting centre are nestled in 130 acres of forest and bush and fern gullies. The property has a salt-water pool, spa and tennis court. The beach is ten minutes away. At the retreat guest can choose massages, yoga or art classes. The nearby rainforests are waiting to be explored. Surf beaches like Moonlight Head and Johanna are close by.

Lodge on Emu Bay
The three spacious guest suites of this lodge have stunning views over the beach at Emu Bay. Guests can sit on the veranda outside with a drink and enjoy the view, come indoors and relax on the comfortable sofas in the guest lounge with a cup of coffee or tea, or unpack their bathers and soak in the heated spa. The beach at Emu Bay is one of the finest on Kangaroo Island.

It is 4.5 km long with white sand and clear waters. Mandy & Paul , the new lodge owners, have years of experience in tourism. They all run a tour guiding business. All lodge guests are participating in one full day guided island tour (small group, max 6 people), which explores the island with a 4WD - and is part of the standard package.

After dinner, guests can join a nocturnal tour to see Emu Bay's colony of fairy penguins and search for Kangaroos, Wallabies, Possums and other wildlife. The night skies here are among the darkest and clearest in the world and perfect for viewing the southern stars. If possible, guests should have at least 2 full days on the island (either 3 nights at the lodge or a late flight back to Adelaide). For the second full day on the island guests can either rent a car to self-drive the island, or book another guided day tour.

The capital of South Australia, Adelaide nestles between sea and hills. It is a graceful city of wide streets, elegant buildings and parkland. Cultural pursuits, good food and wine are high on the agenda. Designed in 1836 on a square mile grid the city is compact and easy to walk around. High-rise buildings have been kept to a minimum and the wide streets, original stone colonial buildings, mansions and workers cottages remain a delight to see. The city precinct is surrounded by a vibrant green belt of parklands. It is known for its refinement and has a charm and grace that shows in sophisticated wining and dining. Adelaide's famous central market is a great way to start the day. The city has the world's largest collection of Aboriginal artefacts. Regardless of the season, the Adelaide Hills offer a welcome respite in country air. Visitors can investigate historic townships, enjoy the region's fresh produce or visit heritage properties with stunning gardens.

Ayers Rock Resort: The Lost Camel
Ayers Rock Resort lies at the gateway to Uluru-KataTjuta National Park, in Australia's Northern Territory. Nestled behind spectacular sand dunes, Ayers Rock Resort lies hidden from the rest of the National Park. The design of the resort reflects some sort of sensitivity to the environment and respect for the area's traditional Aboriginal owners: Huge sails provide shade, solar panels generate power, native trees flourish throughout. The town-like resort offers a range of faculties, such as a shopping centre, a visitor centre, tour desks, restaurants, cafes, swimming pools, a free shuttle and a variety of five accommodation options catering for every possible taste and budget. The Lost Camel Hotel offers contemporary 3½ star studio-style accommodation featuring furnished in a stylish mix of Aboriginal and urban themes. All of the 99 self-contained guest rooms, built around lush courtyards and a generous swimming pool, are decorated in bright, contrasting colours and crisp, clean whites. The hotel lobby features contemporary furnishings, bright open spaces, TV screens and a small bar. Restaurants are at the nearby hotels, such as the Desert Gardens Hotel (4½ star) or "Sails in the Desert" (5 star).

Boutique Hotel in Sydney: Historic & Charming
Boutique Hotel in Sydney: Historic & Charming

Boutique Hotel at Potts Point
This gracious and elegant boutique hotel in the historic Potts Point district combines arts & crafts architectural heritage with a delightful bed & breakfast experience. Located within walking distance of Darlinghurst and the Sydney CBD, the building was erected as a mansion in 1892. Its architecture is very relevant to the English Queen Anne style and Arts and Crafts Movement of that period - typified by its many nooks and crannies, and use of red brick and moulded timber as distinct features. Today, the hotel's 19th century interiors and warm hospitality offer more comfort and charm than the usual chain hotels. Individually and tastefully furnished, each of the twelve rooms bears its own unique style and personality. While there is an extensive library and a computer for complimentary use in the drawing room, a continental breakfast buffet is offered in the Conservatory each morning.
