Adelaide Hills

Perhaps you want to indulge in a romantic weekend away or take the kids on a bushwalk. Whether it's for a day or a week, the Adelaide Hills is the perfect destination for your next holiday. Once the rolling vineyards, unspoilt bushland and rich farmland start to work their magic, you'll think you're a world away.

The Adelaide Hills are only a short 20 minute drive from Adelaide's city center. There are over 1000 kilometers of walking trails, market gardens, historic townships, wildlife sanctuaries, restaurants and many inviting coffee shops, traditional pubs and over 50 wineries, renown for producing excellent white varieties and sparkling wines.

The highest peak, Mt Lofty Summit, provides a glorious view of the city and the ocean. Hahndorf is Australia's oldest German settlement. The main street is lined with craft shops, private museums, galleries, delicatessens, German bakeries and a cellar door for a local winery.

Birdwood is home to Australia's largest collection of vintage, veteran and classic cars and motorcycles. Aldgate and Stirling are renowned for their glorious autumn season, when the rolling green hills turn into various shades of red, orange and yellow.

Cleland Wildlife Park allows visitors to see many native animals, such as kangaroos and koalas, while Warrawong Sanctuary has been returned to its natural environment to protect the original flora and fauna. Sunrise and Sunset tours highlight Australia's many nocturnal animals.
