Our Tailor-Made Tours of Botswana

Our sound, personal knowledge of our tour areas such as the Swaziland and KwaZulu-Natal province allows us to select smaller, intimate lodges that are run by their owners. Traditional Botswanian hospitality, lower costs, higher quality and the host’s willingness to help and advise are determining factors in our choice of accommodation for our clients.

Your Botswana vacation is special to you and to us. Moving from one lodge to another each night on holiday is not the best way to enjoy the real Botswana. We prefer to set up your itinerary so that you stay at least a couple of nights in each lodge. This will enable you to travel at leisure and explore your chosen destination more thoroughly. You will be able to gain better insight into the diverse culture of the “Rainbow Nation” and take full day excursions to such attractions as Kruger National Park. it is your holiday, let us tailor it to you.

We recommend allowing at least two weeks for holidays in Botswana that include more than one region. If less time is available we suggest that you focus one area such as Limpopo Province or Swaziland. This will allow you to travel at leisure and save you from spending most of your holiday in your car. In our experience less time on the road is more enjoyable.

During high season many of the small, personally hosted lodges in Botswana are fully booked several weeks in advance. Arranging an itinerary with us prior to travel will give you the peace of mind of knowing your final destination each day and where you will be spending the night. This will save you much trouble while touring Botswana and give you more time to concentrate on planning your daily activities and enjoying your vacation.

We arrange your Botswana tour according to your specifications. All our itineraries are customized to suit your needs and interests. We can change the routes, the number of persons in your party, the time schedule, the standard of accommodation or the type of vehicle. The tour may begin on any date from any location such as Pretoria, Johannesburg or Cape Town.

What we do not offer: “We did it all in two weeks”

We are a private limited company (Ltd.) located near Cologne, Germany, with branch offices in South Africa and New Zealand. We began as a special tour operator for South Africa in 1998 but soon extended our programme to Germany and other countries, encouraged by the positive feedback from our clients. "Umfulana" means "stream" or "little river" in Zulu and is the literal translation of the German surname of one of the company's directors, Martin Bach, who began designing and selling tailor-made, self-drive itineraries while living in South Africa.
