1st day: Berlin

		You arrive at the airport.

The magnificent turn-of-the-century manor house sits in a quiet, cobbled street near the Kurfürstendamm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin. Many of the rooms are decorated in the Bauhaus style and overlook the garden, a peaceful oasis after a day spent in the teeming city. 3rd day: Dresden

		Spreewald Distance: 200 km Travel time: 2:30 h more ... For much of the trip south you will pass through the great forests of the Speewald, an area designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1991. The language and customs of the Slavic tribes that originally inhabited the region have been largely preserved to the present day.

5th day: Praha

		Into the Czech Republic Distance: 150 km Travel time: 2:00 h more ... You will cross the border near the German city of Breitenau, about 35 km south of Dresden. Although the Czech Republic joined the EU in 2004, border controls remain in place, so all passengers should have their passports ready. After crossing the border you will enter Bohemia, a region historically settled by ethnic Germans that has been the object of much contention through the centuries.

The oldest written report of this building dates from 1739. It was first referred to by its current name, the Sign of the Crayfish, in 1779. Although there were numerous timbered houses in Prague at the time, very few have survived until the present day, making this a truly unique historical landmark. The property was in a state of desolation when acquired by its present owner, Mr. Paul, In 1987. Since then the house at the Sign of the Crayfish has been brought back to life. Natural materials were used in the restoration, giving the property a pleasant, rustic look. The mass of greenery and rippling water in the garden has a relaxing effect. Although the building serves as a hotel today, it is a very small one that harmonizes with its surroundings.

7th day: Wachau

		To Austria Distance: 280 km Travel time: 4:30 h more ... You will first cut through the south-east section of Bohemia to Jihlava, an ancient mining town situated on the boundary between the regions of Bohemia and Moravia. From there you will head straight south to the Austria border, which you will cross near Slavonice. You should be prepared to show your passports at the border crossing.

9th day:

		To the Alps Distance: 240 km Travel time: 3:00 h more ... As you proceed eastwards from Lower Austria to Upper Austria you will move further and further into the shadow of the Alps. Just west of Linz you will pass Mauthausen, site of the largest concentration camp in Austria during WW II (now a museum). Before reaching Salzburg you will pass the town and lake of Mondsee, considered one of the most scenic locations in Upper Austria.

		Accommodation: A 14th century palace brewery The old palace brewery is located on the shore of idyllic Mattsee lake, only 21 km from Salzburg. The little town of Mattsee is enclosed by lakes on three sides. The traditional, pleasant hotel, which sits directly on the waterfront, is particularly known for its restaurant featuring fish from the hotel's own pond, complemented by wines from its well-stocked cellar. Guests can make day trips to Salzburg or enjoy any number of water sports, including swimming in the indoor pool or the lake. 11th day: Munich

		Chiemsee Distance: 150 km Travel time: 2:00 h more ... will cross the border into Germany just a few km outside of Salzburg. The short distance to be covered allows time for a stop at scenic Lake Chimsee. One of Ludwig the Mad's (Ludwig II) most spectacular projects after Neuschwanstein is located on the island of Herrenchiemsee: An opulent palace designed as a replica of the Palace of Versailles.
