Accommodation: A B&B at Nymphenburg Palace The attractive Neo-Renaissance villa was built in 1886 next to the Nymphenburg Palace and park, one of the most famous sites in Munich. The 17th century palace, now open to the public, has played an important role in numerous historic events. The small, family-run hotel next door prides itself on its 23 individually designed bedrooms and friendly service. Bicycles are loaned for free, for example, and tickets for the local public transportation system for the ride downtown can be purchased at the reception desk. In spite of the quiet location, Germany's largest beer garden is just minutes away. The hotel staff will gladly provide restaurant recommendations and assist with the planning of local activities. Indeed, the little inn was recently named a "Best Service Hotel" by the travel website Venere. Free parking is available. |

Accommodation: A quaint 16th century inn This romantic little inn dating from 1534 combines history, charm and an excellent location. Just two blocks from the central market square, the Kloster-Stüble is tucked away on a quiet side street behind an old church and has pretty views of the surrounding countryside from many of the rooms. Behind the hotel is the Castle Garden, a quiet park that offers a unique view of the town. The rooms are somewhat snug but comfortably furnished in the rustic style. A large apartment, set under the eaves, is perfect for families or longer stays. The cosy restaurant serves hearty, regional cuisine. After dinner we recommend taking the Night Watchman's Tour of Rothenburg. The hotel staff can provide the exact time and location. |

Accommodation: A mountain inn near the Zuspitze The traditional mountain inn is located in Grainau at the foot of Germany's highest peak. Most of the bedrooms in the 4 star hotel have balconies from which guests can enjoy fabulous mountain views. The rooms are decorated in rustic style with heavy wooden headboards. The warm, elegant restaurant is known throughout the region for its excellent cuisine and is listed in several restaurant guides. The 100-year-old guesthouse has been run by the same family for over 30 years: they know the region inside out and are glad to help guests plan local activities.
