Accommodation: A working farm The peacful farm lies 4 km from the Valle dei Templi and 3 km from the sea. Organic oranges, almonds, pistachios and olives are grown on about 110 acres of land. The farmstead consists of several buildings gathered around a courtyard that feels like the stage of an Italian opera. While the main bulding was constructed in the 19th century, the tower and archway are presumably much older. Guest rooms are located in the villa, the tower and the converted stalls. A swimming pools is available during the summer months. A house speciality is dinner made of fresh ingrediants grown on the farm and served around a large family table. |

Accommodation: A traditional farmhouse The casa is a 200-year-old farmhouse nestled in wooded hills 7 km off the main road. Owners Maria Teresa and Sebastiano left the city several years ago in favour of a rural lifestyle. The stone house just outside town offers sweeping views across olive and citrus groves to the sea. The congenial hosts love to converse with guests in the cool dining room (originally the oil-press room) around the press wheel. A special effort was made to keep the historical elements as intact as possible, which gives the house a distinctive charm. All original floors, ceilings, beams, kitchen tiles and furniture were retained. Guests are offered a choice of three double bedrooms upstairs or five downstairs. It should be noted that the ensuite bathrooms were made very small to preserve the integrity of the rooms. For those who desire direct contact with Sicilian culture, the casa is a truly memorable experience. |
