As vast tracts of Namibia are farmland, the wild cats are in competition with the farmers. In order to avoid heavy cattle losses, farmers often have no alternative but to shoot or trap the predatory cats. The AfriCat Foundation is developing farming methods that will allow co-existence with these cats. In addition, young animals the parents of which have been shot are prepared for survival in the wilderness.
The AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organization, committed to long-term conservation of Namibia's large carnivores, especially cheetahs and leopards. Spending your holidays in Namibia will give you the opportunity to witness some of AfriCat´s work while you travel through the beautiful landscape of Erongo.
