Okavango, Victoria Falls, Caprivi: Diverse Southern Africa

One of the most exciting animal paradises in Africa is surely where the Okavango River seeps away into the endless Kalahari: the Okavango Delta. This delta and the Victoria Falls are just two of the many highlights that await you on this tour from Windhoek to the legendary Zambezi.

From a distance the 16 thatched roof rooms at the edge of the park are hardly visible, thanks to careful architectural planning to make them blend in with the surrounding bush. The comfortable rooms are decorated with murals by the famous artist Aschenborn and with Karakul carpets. In addition the spectacular view of the African landscape towards the Horizon is impressive.
A number of activities are on offer, e.g. hikes with or without guide, helicopter flights and attendance at the feeding of the lions.

Accommodation: Frans Indongo Lodge
Frans Indongo Lodge exudes the sense for life of northern Namibia's people in a most charming way. The complex is modelled on traditional Ovambo homesteads: palisades of tall pointed stakes embrace the lodge and convey a feeling of the warmth and security of home right in the middle of the African bush. Inside the complex a palisade separates the restaurant and swimming pool area from the guest chalets and thereby provides more privacy. A variety of beautiful building materials like natural stone, wood and reed were used for the houses. Items of daily use in Ovambo - earthen pots, voluminous storage baskets or original wooden figures - serve as decoration to emphasise the African theme, and lend a very special charm to the lodge.
The luxurious character of the lodge is complemented by the interior decoration and colour scheme of the chalets. All the rooms have their own bathroom, air-conditioner, fridge, hairdryer, telephone, TV and an electric kettle for tea and coffee.

The lush green garden is shaded by tall trees and sports an artificial brook. It attracts the Shaft-tailed Whydah, the strikingly coloured Crimson-breasted Shrike, the Pied Barbet and many other feathered friends. You can have a refreshing dip into the swimming pool, and when the sun starts to set just before dinner you can retreat to the large wooden veranda at the bar or the little observation tower. Both are fabulous places for savouring the enchanting hour of dusk - and keeping an eye on the watering place which is illuminated at night. The rare Nyala, Black Springbok and White Blesbok, Sable and Roan Antelope regularly put in an appearance.
Activities range from watching Cheetah sprinting and learn more about the fastest terrestrial animal on the planet at the nearby Cheetah Conservation Fund. Observe hundreds of vultures spiralling down from the sky - at the feeding site of the Rare and Endangered Species Trust which works for the protection of Namibia's last Cape vultures. Or explore Waterberg Plateau Park, where water is plentiful, and visit the OvaHerero cultural centre in Okakarara.

Accommodation: Shinde Camp
Shinde is nestled on a lush palm dotted area in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. Located at the edge of a lagoon, it is surrounded by clear waterways which flow over yellow sands and past palm-fringed islands teeming with birdlife and game. This is a photographer's delight. Its remoteness has ensured that the innocent wildlife has not been subject to the pressures of mass tourism.
The island is especially favoured by members of the antelope family, including the elusive sitatunga whose elongated and splayed hooves enable it to walk on the unstable beds of reeds floating on the water. Well-equipped delta craft may take you on an interesting trip where you will see fascinating breeding colonies of herons, egrets, pelicans and storks. Your guide will arrange walks, show you insects, as well as a wide variety of bird life and game.
Shinde's abundant wildlife and the silent waters of the Okavango combine to make your stay a rare experience indeed!

Accommodation: Motswiri Lodge
Motswiri Lodge is a self-owned and managed game lodge situated in the heart of the Kanana Wilderness. The lodge is built around a collection of Calcrete pans which are an essential water source for much of the game in the area. During the winter months pans dry up, leaving just a small puddle for the animals to drink from. However in a good rainy season, the pans can fill up completely and maintain their water for almost 12-months.
The Lodge is made up of an assortment of luxury, walk in safari tents. All the tents have comfy beds and offer en-suite toilets and showers, with hot and cold water. Each tent has a porch with a table and chairs, where you can sit quietly and watch the game come down to drink. The main lodge is a large spacious area, where you can either enjoy a few light refreshments at our bar or relax in the comfort of our lounge; where there is a small library of books about the area and wildlife. These books are for your use whilst you are with us.
