Tourism New Zealand awards top tour operator programmes

Frankfurt, 10 March 2008. On Friday March 7th, 2008 Tourism New Zealand honoured Germany’s best New Zealand tour operators in an exclusive and interactive evening function at the Umspannwerk Ost in Berlin. Hon Pete Hodgson, Minister of Research, Science and Technology, Minister for Tertiary Education und Minister for Economic Development, awarded Maori hand-carved awards in the following categories: “Best New Zealand Brochure”, “Best FIT Programme” and “Best Group Tour”. An independent jury of three tourism, marketing and New Zealand experts had selected the German and Suisse New Zealand specialists.

Best New Zealand FIT Programme: Umfulana Tailor-Made Tours
Umfulana Tailor-Made Tours has been awarded the Tourism Awards best individual programme for its discovery tour “Umfulana's South Island Highlights”. The tour impressed the jury with its flexible timing and routing allowing for a unique New Zealand experience off the beaten track. The activities included represent exceptional and life-changing New Zealand experiences that cannot be found anywhere else. Personal contact with Maori culture adds another exciting level to the tour. The presentation of the tour and the material customers receive is also exceptional. Art of Travel and Step In were the other nominees in this category.
