Durban is well known to South Africans and foreigners alike, primarily for its all-year-round warm weather and fantastic bathing beaches on the Indian Ocean. The Mozambique current stemming from the equator in the north supplies the warm water.
Durban, however, is much more than just a city with a beach. It hosts the biggest port in Africa, as well as being a strong industrial city. Furthermore it has the largest Indian population in South Africa. Today the former British settlement displays a cosmopolitan flair, in which Zulus, Indians and white people live in close proximity and provide a modern colorful South African community.
