The landscape of the Limpopo is characterized by the contrasts between the Highveld and the Lowveld of South Africa. The vegetation is savanna like. The summer months are humid and hot with numerous heavy thunderstorms. The fascinating Waterberg mountain range dominates the landscape to the north.
The Kruger National Park as well as numerous smaller nature areas and reserves with excellent hiking opportunities are situated in this region. The friendly capital, Pietersburg, with its colourful jacaranda trees lining the streets has the lowest crime rate of all the provincial capitals in South Africa.
Limpopo is a eco-tourist destination where mountain ranges rise suddenly and dramatically out of bushveld plains. On the slopes of these mountains you will find indigenous forests, placid streams and beautiful waterfalls.
Much of the land is unspoilt providing sanctuary to large numbers of game. Game reserves are found in 2 different regions within Limpopo.
