Franche-Comté is primarily a natural phenomenon. The summit, the dizzying canyons and rugged valleys of the Jura Mountains offer magnificent panoramic views, where dense forests, waterfalls and lovely meadows alternate. The Doubs, the viewpoint La Roche du Pretre, the Echelles de la Mort (death stairs), the sources of the Loue and the Lison and the “Recules” with its breathtaking slopes are unforgettable. But the south has picturesque landscapes to offer as well: the valleys of the Ain and the Bienne as well as the lake district.
Arbois, Pontarlier, Champagnole, Saint-Claude, Lons-le-Saulnier and Nantua are attractive holiday resorts. From here, excursions and countless activities can be easily organized: walking through picturesque landscapes, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and mountaineering.
